ESTYN HULBERT moved to New York in 2000 to become an assistant to her aunt, artist and jewelry designer Jessica Rose. She apprenticed with Jessica for five years, becoming her design partner, and immersed herself in the materials and language of exquisite wearable art. Estyn launched her own jewelry line in 2006. She is inspired by growing forms, architectural ornamentation, typography, textiles and symbols from ancient cultures. “Following the thread of an idea leads me from one design to the next, frequently in an unanticipated direction”, Estyn states. “I think in terms of the architecture of a piece, striving for structural integrity and a seamlessness between the material and the form.”
